life got busy!

it's been like a year since i last posted an update on here. we've been a little busy :) i'll get on that ASAP!
in the meantime... the kiddos had their well-child visits today (yeah, i'm behind on those, too!).

Kaden was 4 in Feb and he just went today for a check-up and flu shot (yeah, i know.) he's 45 lbs and 3 ft 9 in tall. i can't believe he's almost 5!!!

Layla was 2 in July... she finished up on her vaccines (didn't get a flu shot) and, she weighs 26 lbs 4 oz and is 34 in tall. 50th percentile all around except for her head. 75th percentile!!!

i'll update a little more sometime this weekend... i hope! have a good one :)

i cannot believe that one year ago today (well not until 6:04pm) that my sweet Layla May was born. this year has gone by waaay too fast! and as much as i thought i was still holding on to some of her "baby-ness", she is completely off the bottle as of this morning... much to her resistance, she drank 6 oz. of milk from a sippy cup at breakfast. does she really know she turned one today!? she has been awfully sassy this week! well she's not walking yet, her cheeks are still chubby, and she still smells like a baby, so i will still consider her a baby. of course they'll always be my babies forever...

the kids wore orange today for baby Stellan (check out his story by clicking on Stellan's name)! i had a hard time finding orange for Layla, so we went with orange polka dots! and Kaden was so excited to sport his orange Komets shirt today! check out the little note pinned to their shirts. and we made sure everyone at school knew why they were wearing orange, and to read their note, and to pray for Stellan!!!
if you remember a while back, i posted a little something about Stellan, asking for prayer... well he really needs your prayers today!!! would please pray for baby Stellan and his mommy and the rest of his family today?! thank you!

just a funny before we call it a night... i was getting the kiddos all ready for bed and this what my kaden had to say...
kaden (pointing at layla): "where'd them go?"
mommy: "what are you talking about?"
kaden: "layla's toes."
mommy: "they're inside her jammies."
kaden: "all locked up?" (with a confused look on his face)

did i mention layla is wearing a "sleep-sack" to bed!? lol

so now that layla's toes are all locked up, we can go to bed! lol

we were at Mimi and Grandpa's this weekend, and Kaden's favorite place to be up there is OUTSIDE! i went outside to check on him Saturday morning and he had a pair of garden clippers in his hands... when i asked him what he was doing he said, "don't watch me, i'm workin'." oh ok! my bad! when i asked him where he got the garden cutters from he said, "leave me alone. i'm workin'." hmmm... ok, mr. I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T!

well today was my first MOPS meeting! we got there just in time (lots of traffic, and lots of construction at the church!). i dropped Kaden off in the MOPPETS pre-school room before the meeting... i was nervous how he would do because he hasn't been to daycare or a similar setting since april! he did fine! went right in and found a firetruck to play with. i almost forgot to tell the teacher that he was potty trained though! that might have been disastrous! Layla and i headed over to the meeting. some coffee, yummy muffins (thank you Ryan!) and a really good presentation on how one of our fellow moms, Lesa, chose the path of photography and shared her wonderful journey. very inspirational; make you think kind of talk going on. it was really great to meet new people. and there is a little girl very close to Layla's age too. Thankful to meet my prayer partner, Laurie. i've been praying for better sleep at night and naps for your little guy! i hope you had a better week. when i went back to pick Kaden up, i was one of the last to get there. i was peeking through the doorway at him until i was able to step in and get him. as soon as he saw me, his eyes welled up with tears and he said "mommy, i wanna go home. i sick." i picked him up and asked him what was wrong and he just laid his head on my shoulder and held on tight. i went in and asked the teacher how he did and she said great. he even went potty for her. i was puzzled! he wouldn't tell me what was wrong. as i got him out to the car, i put him in his carseat and asked him again what was wrong and he said, "i cried in the blue room." i asked why and he said "mommy, you leave me there." BREAK MY HEART! he thought i was going to leave him there! i think because he saw everyone else getting picked up first, (as i was one of the last to come get him) he thought he was going to get left here! i felt horrible. all in all we had a great time and we'll do it again in a few weeks! MOPS meets every first and third Fridays of the month.
after MOPS we headed to Melissa's to play and have lunch with the kids. wonderful time! the weather was AWESOME! perfect fall day! the boys played outside in the sandbox most of the time; barely pausing to eat lunch. Layla is the ONLY girl of the bunch- Melissa with Spencer and Landon; Ryan with Carson and Noah; Dawn with David and soon-to-be baby Will; and me with Kaden AND LAYLA! at one point, 3 of us mommies were sitting on the couch nursing our babies while Dawn kept an eye on all of the boys. what's going to happen come January when all 4 of us are sitting on the couch nursing our babies and the boys have free reign of the house!? OH NO!!! thank you Melissa for a great time!!!

well i'm going to be attending my first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting on Fri. i'm excited for this opportunity and glad to be doing it with some really great friends (Dawn, Melissa, Katie, and Ryan)! i'll let you know how it goes :)

komet's game

well we took kaden to his first komet's game on saturday night and he LOVED it! brent works with a season ticket holder, and he wasn't going to use his tickets on saturday night so he gave them to brent in exchange for switching shifts with him one day last week... you can't beat FREE!!! we left layla with nana and took kaden out for his special mommy/daddy night. we went out to eat and headed to the game. he ate absolutely nothing because he was worried about getting to the game to see ICY the mascot! we got him some popcorn and a lemonade when we got to the game and he was set! he was excellent. unfortunately he didn't get to see icy because it was only an exhibition game; we'll have to take him to a real game later in the season. perfect game to take little ones too... the periods are only 20 mins. each and there is a 16 minute break in between periods; just enough time to make a lap around the coliseum and check things out before heading back to our seats. all in all it was a great night and kaden got some much needed one on one time with mommy and daddy. when we went to go pick up layla from nana's, kaden wanted to spend the night so we did just that! and papaw cooked kaden his favorite breakfast food... BACON! love spending time with my little man!

i don't know!

i feel like things are so busy, i don't even know what to do next! i'm sure having 2 kids now is a good excuse, but i think it's a good mix of EVERYTHING going on right now. i feel like i'm too busy to breathe sometimes.

i thought i'd try this whole blogging thing out... i find myself on the computer daily, checking e-mail or keeping up with other blogs i read; i might as well make just a little more time and update everyone with our own, right!?

i couldn't even keep up with Kaden's baby book/calendar; let alone Layla's! we'll see how this goes and hopefully i can keep track of our memories and share our lives with you at the same time.
